What is the best water pipe system for your home?

One question that I am often asked, is what is the worst water pipe system and what is the best? From what I have seen in over twenty years of plumbing, I would say that one of the worst was a CPVC pipe called Thompsons Flowguard Gold. This was popular back in the late 90's. This pipe is known to get brittle over time.  Usually by 15 years, it is in very bad shape. There have been numerous problems, breaks, leaks, etc. Thousands of insurance claims filed because of it.

The best fix is to repipe the whole hot and cold system in your house with a type A PEX system. Topline Plumbing is able to replace your entire home with very little wall openings. And the cost is much less than you would think.

Repipe & Water Line Replacement  What we do best

2/2/2013

I do a lot of repipes and water line replacement work and I seem to get the same questions over and over again.

One of the first things I'm often asked is, "How many holes will you cut?"
I'm always happy to answer this question because it's something I'm very proud of. What I usually say is something like this:

"Not as many as you would think, maybe one or two. Generally, I get the job done with the least amount of wall openings than any other plumber I know. And I've been plumbing in the Seattle area now for over 20 years."

The most common second question I get is, "How disruptive will this be? And how long will it take?"

My usual reply is, "About two days on average. We make as little mess as possible and cut the fewest holes. We will leave your yard as close as possible to the way we found it."

People also want to know, "What kind of piping do you use?"

"We usually use one of three types of PEX piping, or copper if the customer prefers it. Some have a strong preference for copper.

We also use Moen shower valves because we believe they are the best even though they are not the most expensive."

In addition to the 5 signs that you may need a repipe, you'll often also know that you need a water line fix or replacement if your bill is unusually high, that could indicate a leak somewhere.

Regarding water line replacements, sometimes the water line can be fixed, though it may be more costly than a replacement. A replacement could be more cost-effective, especially if you have had other leaks before.

Please get in touch if we can answer any more questions for you or help in any way with your plumbing issues.
